I want to use GetFeedback.com to send out a number of emails linking to specific SF Contacts (and other custom SF objects). In their Salesforce guide (https://community.getfeedback.com/s/article/Salesforce-Integration-Getting-Started-Guide), GetFeedback say that we should 'use a dynamic merge field syntax provided by Salesforce', and that 'A merge field’s syntax can vary depending on where you’re using the field. To make sure you’re using the correct syntax, select merge fields from the drop-down list in the editor where you’re using the merge field.'
But as far as I can see from within Salesforce, the only option to use dynamic merge fields is to create a mail merge doc in MS Word, and then create a SF mail merge template by uploading the Word doc.
The two issues with this are 1) I don't have easy access to MS Word, so especially for testing this in its most basic form I really just want to be able to create a SF mail merge that contains something like 'Dear {!Contact.FirstName}; Test; Hugs, Sasha' without having to get access to a Word account and 2) If I do need to create it via Word, manually typing in the SF syntax, I can't make sense of GetFeedback's advice to 'select merge fields from the drop-down list in the editor'.
So is it possible to resolve 1), and if not, can/how do I get the functional benefit in 2)?
Thanks,
Sasha

They are referring to the merge field drop down when configuring an email template. Give that a try.
