Recommendations on Image/Screenshot Editing Techniques for Email Templates

Question

Attempting to resize screenshots to have smaller dimensions to not occupy so much page space in email templates in Salesforce. Quickly finding that pixelation is an issue. Downloaded the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CC and am tinkering around with various filters. Any Photoshop experts out there who regularly touch up images prior to placing them in Salesforce email templates? If so, what are your recommendations when decreasing the dimensions of an image, but maintaining resolution?
