How to summarize Pipeline history report with Opportunity count

Question

I like the pipeline history report and understanding the amount in each Opportunity stage is helpful. I would also like to know the number of Opportunities in each stage how do I do that? _img alt="User-added image" src=" " /_

You can display this in your matrix report. Click Customize and in the report preview (lower pane) you'll see the word Show - click this and click Record Count: that will bring the record count through to each row of your matrix.   You can then choose whether the chart continues to show amount or changes to showing record count.
