User can't see contact on Related Contacts list from account, but can see contact record

Question

I have activated the feature to allow users to relate contacts to multiple accounts. My user can see the account record for a particular account, and can see all contact records for the account if they search for them by name. However, they cannot see all the contacts on the Related Contacts list against the account, and on the contact page of some, there is no account under Related Accounts.

So they can see both records, but for some contacts they can't see the relationship between them on the Related Contacts/Related Accounts lists.

Our OWD is set to private, but this user's profile overrides Account and Contact sharing, they have view all and modify all ticked.

What can I do to correct this?

I've found it, the owner of the contact was missing from the sharing rules.

They can allso view the Account Contact Relationship records...  I'm baffled.  About to open Support Case.
