Are there any practical limitations to the number of accounts you can have to use Territory Assignment rules? My client has approximately 10 million accounts and assignements are done through an APEX job and custom object that was created by another vendor. This methodology is rather complex to try to maintain and I'd like to move to using the Territory Assignment rules.

Should be ok from an Account volume perspective - will likely take a long time to run initially.

I would question why the original vendor chose to use a custom approach before you jump into standard TM. Were there limitations at the time that pushed them to build custom vs what is available now? Have you confirmed the rule complexity they have can be supported by standard TM? Does territory need to control record sharing? What kind of territory based reporting is required?

TM rarely is a simple concept so be sure to evaluate all the angles before making the call on whether standard TM is the right approach.
