I am having a devil of a time trying to set up a workflow that will
1. email a specific email template, based on the campaign name associated with the lead/contact
2. log the activity for this email so that I can see that the email was sent and when (this is a secondary requirement and I could live without it if I must)
My problem is that we use PeopleTools by CRM Fusion to load our leads, this does a de-dupe prior to loading. It also creates the lead first, then assigns it to a campaign.
Since the lead is created wtihout an association to a campaign, I cannot trigger the workflow from there
and since the addition of the lead to a campaign does not constitute an "edit", I cannot trigger from there.
I am totally stuck. Anyone???

As a lead can be in multiple campaigns, there's no way a workflow rule could know which campaign you want to use, thus there's no way a workflow rule can filter based on campaign info.
You can use campaign member workflow email alerts to send the email as they can have campaign and lead criteria as lead fields such as title or company are on campaign member.
