in my default search layout for Price book entry I added a picklist field named Product Family.
When I want to add a Product to an Oppty and I'm promped with the search layout, if I try to apply a filter on the Product family field I see old and inactive values?
How is it possible? The price book i selected doesn't include any product with those families.
Ho do I can filter by only active picklist values?

Hi Mimma,
I just tested this in my org. It appears that if any product, regardless of pricebook, contains an inactive Product Family, that Product Family will be available as a filter on the Opportunity product screen. The only way to have this filter value go away is if the inactive Product Family picklist value is replaced on all Products that are using it.
What you could do is run a report on all Products that have the inactive Product Family, and then use that do a data update to the new Product Family, if applicable. You could even enable Field History tracking on Product Family so that you have history of the old value.
