I'm just curious as we have not turned it on in our org yet. Is there a reason why you would recommend converting to lightning now vs waiting or putting it off? (other than it being so new and there still being a lot that's not supported on it that currently is available for classic)

From what I've read, it seems that it's currently more for companies that are looking to develop custom apps via the salesforce lightning platform and have those work more seamlessly on the Salesforce1 app since that runs on lightning. But I also know there's a huge learning curve due to the huge re-organization for the UX.

Just wanted to get some thoughts from other admins or developers that have made the decision TO or made the decision to WAIT and why.

That's a great question and everyone who asks me that, my repsonse to them is 'ASAP'. The reason being that Lightning is the future of Salesforce and the more you continue using Classic, the more you continue developing for it. Now some of what you develop might be compatible with Lightning and some of it might not be (like URL hacks, VF pages etc.) and the incompatible features will need revamping to be supported by Lightning.

The learning curve might be steep but that shouldn't deter you from migrating to Lightning as you will have to 'learn' it sooner or later. Also, I would do a thorough gap analysis using the checklist provided by Salesforce and ssee where you stand and then build a transition plan from that point. I dreaded the transition too but after 2-3 months of working  with Lightning, I I realized that it isn't that complicated. It's a new UI, new experience so obviously you will have to get out of your comfort zone of being in Classic and experiment with new features in lighting but that will tremendously help you get a firm grip on it.

Also, remember that Salesforce is not developing/enhancing for Classic anymore and majority of them are being released for Lightning so that might be another good reason to consider for the migration. In my opinion, the sooner you do it, the easier it will be.

    Good luck!
