I created my first Lightning Email Template, but it doesn't work with Email Alerts, so what is the Lightning equivalent to Email Alert?

Email alerts that are used by Workflow and Process Builder require you to use Classic Email Templates. Lightning Email Templates are meant for end users to create or send on their own. In other words, Lightning Email Templates aren't available for automation.
