My organization has 44 custom buttons that create new records on a different object that need to be converted/transitioned.  I am creating new Actions buttons to replace what we have but I'm hitting a wall. In order to get the Action buttons to appear on a Lightning Record Page, it seems like I need to edit the original classic page layout.

  1. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?
  2. How do I add action buttons to a completely new lightning record page?
  3. If there is no avoiding having to add the action buttons to the classic layout to get it to work in a new record page, how do I disable the custom buttons on the related lists for those using lightning without removing the functionality for the classic users? My users are NOT tech savvy and need everything simplified.
  4. Like #2, I would like to continue using the classic page layout in Lightning or at least take my time recreating new layouts. How do I disable the original buttons on the related lists for those using lightning without removing the functionality for the classic users?

Thank you.

    @Vin Addala

    Good morning Vin. I don't have this currently but what if I create a new object, create the page layout using Lightning Record Pages and add related lists? I want to be able to have an action button so that I can create a new record that will appear in that related list. I cannot edit that layout using classic Page Layouts once we are completely transitioned by October, correct?

    Also, my buttons are definitely showing up in Lightning on the related lists. They don't work as intended like I expected. They act like "New" buttons.
