In Classic Sidebar, you can configure custom links with a formula builder that allows you to merge context user data into the url, enabling links that utilize SSO with external systems. In Lightning, the replacement for the sidebar is the Utility Bar. However, it is not clear to me how to achieve this same functionality.

Am I overlooking something? Is the workaround to write a Lightning Component? That seems like a heavy lift relative to how this is done in Classic.
