We have developed a "member management" system for a client of ours. A huge piece of the system is the ability to track member's check in/out from the facility. Currently, they are using a Form Assembly form that checks a member into his contact record to a custom object called "check-in/out". A second form is used to check out.

Before moving to Salesforce, they were using a scanner to check members in and out. They need to check members in quickly, and would really like to go back to a scanner. ANY suggestions on something that will accomplish this and that will integrate with Salesforce?

Another must have for them is to have the member's name and photo appear once the member has checked in (like at the gym :)). I'm told this can be done through a Visual Force page, but I'm not really familiar enough with VF to know how that would work.
