Set Up ARC for Retail Bankers

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify who needs to view ARC graphs.
  • Create an ARC permission set.
  • Assign ARC permission set.
  • Review object and field level access.

Identify Who Needs Access

Actionable Relationship Center is the right fit for Nora and other retail bankers at Cumulus. Matt’s next step is to identify exactly who needs to use ARC so he can assign the right permissions for viewing and interacting with relationship graphs on record pages.

Matt knows that Nora’s level of access to cards on a graph is determined by her object- and record-level access in Salesforce. For example, if Nora has read access to the Case object, she can only view case cards on a graph. This means she won’t be able to create or edit cases on ARC graphs.

To ensure the best user experience, before building an ARC graph, Matt lists those who’ll need to use it. Then, as he adds objects, fields, and actions to the ARC graph nodes, he reviews user access levels.

Want to Get Hands-on with Actionable Relationship Center?

In this module, we show you the steps to create an ARC graph in Actionable Relationship Center. We don’t have any hands-on challenges in this module, but if you want to practice and try out the steps, you need a special Developer Edition org that contains Actionable Relationship Center and our sample data. A regular Trailhead Playground doesn’t have our sample data. Here’s how to get the free Developer Edition now.

  1. Sign up for a free Trial org with Financial Services Cloud.
  2. Fill out the form.
    • For Email, enter an active email address.
    • For Username, enter a username that looks like an email address and is unique, but it doesn't need to be a valid email account (for example, yourname@test.com).
  3. After you fill out the form, click START MY FREE TRIAL. A confirmation message appears.
  4. When you receive the activation email (this might take a few minutes), open it and click Verify Account.
  5. Complete your registration by setting your password and challenge question. Tip: Write down your username, password, and login URL for easy access later.
  6. You are logged in to your trial org.

Now that you have a Financial Services Cloud org, you’re ready to get started following along in the trail!

Create and Assign an ARC Permission Set

To start, Matt creates Nora as a user in Salesforce.

If you’re ready for hands-on practice, access your DE org and start working through the steps in this module. Remember, hands-on practice is optional, but recommended.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Users, and select Users.
  2. Click New User.
  3. Enter First Name Nora and last name Clark.
  4. Enter Email nora@cumuluscloud.com.
  5. Enter a unique Username that looks like an email address and is unique, but it doesn’t need to be a valid email account for example, yourname@mydomain.com.
  6. Select User License Salesforce.
  7. Select Profile FSC Wealth Advisor.
  8. Deselect Salesforce CRM Content.
  9. Save your changes.

Next, create a permission set to give retail banker Nora access to view ARC graphs.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, and then click Permission Sets.
  2. Click Clone next to the Financial Services Cloud Extension permission set.
  3. Enter a label, such as FSC with ARC.
  4. Clear the API name field, and press Tab to continue to the next field. The API Name field should auto-populate. If it doesn’t, use the label name with underscores, for example FSC_with_ARC.
  5. Optionally, edit the Description field.
  6. Save your changes.
  7. In the Permission Sets list, click the name of the newly created permission set.
  8. Click the System Permissions link.
  9. Confirm Access Actionable Relationship Center permission is selected. If it’s not selected, edit the permission set and select Access Actionable Relationship Center, then save your changes.

Next, assign the permission set to Nora.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, and then click Permission Sets.
  2. Click the newly created permission set, for example FSC with ARC.
  3. Click Manage Assignments, and then click Add Assignment.
  4. Select Nora Clark.
  5. Click Next Assign, and Done.

Review User Object and Field Level Access

Finally, Matt reviews the FSC Wealth Advisor profile to verify the object and field level access to an object he knows will be in the ARC graph. The Account object will be the parent object, and Matt wants to include three fields on the Account node - Account Number, Billing Address, and Phone.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Profiles, and then click Profiles.
  2. Click FSC Wealth Advisor.
  3. Click Object Settings.
  4. For the Account object name, verify the Object Permissions are Read, Create, Edit, and Delete.
  5. Click Accounts.
  6. In Field Permissions, verify read and edit access to account number, billing address, and phone.

And Nora is all set! She can create, edit, read, and delete accounts, and she has read and edit access to the fields. Plus, she has permissions to view ARC relationship graphs and the right access to the Account object.
