I'm fairly new to Pardot and Salesforce, so please let me know if you need clarification on anything or additional details.

We have an automation set up so that when people join our free membership (by filling out a form), they are added to a list which, through an Engagement Studio automation, begins sending them a series of emails over the next few days.

My boss is frustrated that there seems to be a ~7 minute delay between filling out the form and receiving the first email from the automation. The first step is set up to start immediately and I removed the time constraints of "during business hours".

From my research it seems like this may be unavoidable and due to typical processing times that Pardot takes with all email sends but I want to check and make sure there aren't options that I'm missing.

Is there a sync cycle that's set to check the list and send the prospects through the automation only every 10 minutes or something like that?

In the end, 7 minutes is not a real issue. Just want to cover my bases first before simply accepting it.

An autoresponder plus an Engagement studio is a good compromise between execution speed and onward flexibility.  Lucy's article in SalesforceBen is a nice solution, however we also have to be prepared that we will get false positive opt-ins based on link scanners automatically clicking the link.  So be careful with how you present the ongoing campaign as it could start when someone has not actually opted in.
