We are using Enterprice Ed and we have 10 licences in total. Is this to say that we can send a total of 1,000 x 10 externail emails per day through the send email function on Salesforce?
Emails sent through API (?) do not count towards the limit... When is that the case?

That's what the feature limit page in Salesforce help says.
1,000 X # of licenses.
