Transfer a Promotion with a Tactic

Let’s find out how you can transfer a promotion with a tactic. Alpine Group has launched a new drink for the summer called Alpine Cool Mint Cola. Gustavo runs a promotion for the product to create excitement around it and boost sales. He creates a TPM promotion record in CG Cloud to capture the details of this promotion.

Fatima Daniels, the Salesforce admin for Alpine Group, sets up the promotion template and the associated tactic template in CG Cloud. She marks the TPM promotion as transferrable. Next, she checks whether the TPM promotion’s anchor customer and the RE target customer have the same transfer record identifier and are unique within a sales org.

Fatima completes the configuration and saves the changes. CG Cloud automatically transfers the promotion. A sellable promotion record is created in RE and every change to the source TPM promotion is reflected in the target RE promotion.

Select the promotion and tactic types you want to transfer and make necessary adjustments with customizable hooks. The target promotions in RE reflect any changes in the source TPM promotions. When you transfer promotions, they are automatically recreated in RE through either the user interface or a scheduled Apex class. Transfer a Promotion with a Tactic and Tactic Products

Gustavo plans a tactic for a special price discount on six packs of Alpine Cool Mint Cola. He lists the price discount as the tactic and the six-pack as the tactic product.

Fatima marks the tactic as transferable in CG Cloud and maps the planning key of the tactic product with that of the RE tactic product. After Fatima completes her configuration, CG Cloud transfers the promotion with the associated tactic and tactic products.

The target RE promotion has an associated tactic template and the RE products belong to the sales organization of the RE promotion. For more information, see Transfer a Promotion with Tactic and Tactic Products.

Transfer Files Linked to a TPM Promotion

Gustavo can add files such as invoices to a TPM promotion’s related list. When CG Cloud transfers the TPM promotion, the Salesforce files linked to it are also transferred to the retail promotion. Just like a TPM promotion record, CG Cloud creates a link to the file in the RE promotion record’s related list.

Bulk Promotion Transfer

Admins such as Fatima work with thousands of promotion records in a promotion cycle. They use batch processes to transfer promotions in bulk from TPM to RE. Fatima has two options for running a batch process in CG Cloud. She can either run it in the developer console or schedule the batch process run. The batch process configuration name for the transfer process is PromotionTransferBatch.

When a batch process is complete, you can view the batch summary or the completion notification. The promotions transferred through a batch process are synced with the CG offline mobile app based on the existing synchronization rules. For more information, see Batch Processing.

Here are the considerations for promotion transfer through batch processing.

1. The default batch size is 8.
   
2. You can select only the updated promotion versions for transfer.
   
3. You can transfer a maximum of 20,000 promotions through a batch.
   
4. When the number of promotions picked for transfer exceeds the limit of 20,000, CG Cloud processes promotions according to the sort order of the timestamp. Older promotions are processed first.
   
5. You can't schedule a promotion transfer batch through the scheduled Apex UI.
   

Deletion Lock on a Transferred Promotion

In some cases, you might want to delete a promotion (or delete it accidentally). When you delete a TPM promotion, CG Cloud automatically deletes the transferred RE promotion and the associated tactic and tactic products. Also, any Salesforce files associated with the TPM and the RE promotions are removed.

To prevent CG Cloud from deleting a transferred promotion, configure a deletion lock on the RE promotion. For more information, see Deletion of a Transferred Promotion.
