Error:

An error occurred while communicating with the Amazon Athena data source 'Untitled Data Source'

Bad Connection: Tableau could not connect to the data source.

Error Code: 1CA83880

com/amazonaws/ClientConfiguration

Unable to connect to the Amazon Athena server "athena.us-east-1.amazonaws.com". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

 

Drivers installed - SimbaAthenaJDBC42-2.1.3.1002 in location ~/Library/Tableau/Drivers

Tried installing using both the drivers mentioned in AWS docs: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/athena/latest/ug/connect-with-jdbc.html

 

Java version:

openjdk version "21.0.2" 2024-01-16

OpenJDK Runtime Environment Homebrew (build 21.0.2)

OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Homebrew (build 21.0.2, mixed mode, sharing)

 

Using Access Key and Secret Key from SSO user also tried by creating a test IAM user. Both SSO and IAM user has full permissions to s3 and Athena. Also, tested by making these users as Administrator to AWS account.

 

Used telnet to test connectivity to athena server - athena.us-east-1.amazonaws.com on ports 443 and 444, which works fine and shows connected.

 

None of the option is working. Please help to fix the same!

 

Note: Able to run query from AWS console using athena to datasources and respective tables.
