Binding a global date filter to a chart using a different date field in CRM Analytics Dashboard

Hi all, 

I have a global date filter named Date 1 on my dashboard. Most of my charts use the same date field, and they respond correctly to this filter. 

However, I have one chart component that's built on a different date field. When I change the global Date 1 filter, this specific chart doesn't update — it stays on its own static date range. 

I want to bind Date 1's selected range to this chart's date field, so the chart dynamically filters based on Date 1, even though the underlying field is different from what the other charts use.  

 Is this the correct way to bind a global filter's selection to a chart filtering on a

date field?  

1. Is there a supported/documented pattern for this (translating one filter's selection onto a different field), or a video walkthrough anyone can point me to?

Any guidance, docs, or working examples would be really helpful.
