I have a report that displays the ID number for all items that fit within the filtering criteria. I then take the IDs from this report to add to other reports of different criteria to see if they appear. Currently, I export the orginal ID report and copy and paste the IDs from an excel spreadsheet. I wasn't sure if there is a way to easily copy IDs or create a summary of the IDs within the Salesforce report that I could use to paste into the filters on my other reports? Joined reports will not work as there will be too many blank areas for it to work functionally.
If the formula suggestion didn't help, I'm not 100% that it would, Coefficient from the AppExchange can likely at least eliminate some of the manual processes in your workflow.
Coefficient is a 2-way connector between Sheets or Excel
and can streamline this process by automating the extraction and management of Salesforce IDs directly within your spreadsheet.
Automate ID Extraction and Comparison with Coefficient
1. Connect Salesforce to your spreadsheet
- Use Coefficient to establish a live connection between Salesforce and your spreadsheet application.
- Import the report containing the IDs you need.
2. Create a Dynamic ID List:
- Once imported, Coefficient allows you to maintain a dynamic list of IDs that updates automatically based on your Salesforce data.
- This eliminates the need for manual exports and copy-pasting.
3. Compare IDs Across Reports:
- With your ID list in the spreadsheet, you can use functions like VLOOKUP or MATCH to compare these IDs against other datasets or reports you pull in.
- This facilitates easy identification of overlapping records or discrepancies.
4. Automate and Schedule Refreshes:
- Coefficient supports scheduled data refreshes, ensuring your ID lists and comparisons are always up-to-date without manual intervention.
With trying to get this back into other Reports, you can't write back to a Report with Coefficient, but you can writeback to a field. So, potentially you could create a separate field in your other reports that helps to support this workflow as well. You can put your write backs to Salesforce on a schedule too.
