To the Community:

Using Data Import Wizard I have imported a number of Account/Contact records that serve as my CRM base.  I now want to follow up with a number of records that contain various updates to both the Account and Contacts as well as a number of new contacts for the existing Accounts.  My update file has the IDs for the existing Account records as well as those IDs for existing contacts...new contacts have blank IDs blank.  In the Wizard, I match accounts to the Salesforce ID, I map the Contact ID to the Salesforce ID, select to Add/Update and check the update box and attempt to import only to have it keep throwing "Duplicate ID" record.  If it's an Add/Update why will it not update existing records when I provide the ID nor will it add a new Contact to an existing Account when I have blank IDs?

Thanks for any insight!

Jim

    @James (Jim) Kepler,

    You should be able to fix the "Duplicate ID" problem when utilizing the Data Import Wizard by confirming your IDs, looking for duplication, and making sure that fields are mapped correctly. If issues persist, using Workbench for a more thorough investigation will greatly facilitate troubleshooting.
