Greetings! Our team is interested in implementing an auto-generated Account ID field to track customers. Key to this is the ability to have this field factor in if it is a child to a parent account.
For example, assume we set up the parent account to be 100000-000. (The next Parent account would fall in the sequence 100001-000.) If we add an account to Salesforce that is a child to that parent account, we would want the first child to be 100000-001, the second child to be 100000-002, and so on.
How could this be accomplished?

Mikey and Eric, thank you for your responses. I suspected that it wasn't going to be an easy solution. I'll play around with it an see if it is worth the effort. We may need to shift how we think about this.
