Attachment Relates List - Always shows the latest File version of the file that was attached - How can I see which version was actually sent?

Hello,

We have number of email templates that use various files included as attachments. It is easier to update the version of the file which automatically updates the templates when they are sent with the latest files. However, we need to know which version of the files have been sent to the clients, but the Attachment related list only shows the latest version of the files, even though it is not the latest that we have sent. 

Is there a way to keep track of which version has been sent?
