I have a requirement where the standard collaborative forecasting would be great to use however I am not sure that it is compatible with NPSP.
Requirement
I have to provide the ability to show donations received as well as projected to be received for upcoming months / quarters.
Background
We are using NPSP one time donations and pledges are setup as opportunities however we have recurring donations where opportunities are not setup until the time when which the payment is pulled from our donor.
The standard Salesforce feature set works well enough. We would like to use both Goals and Forecasts as well as the Pipeline Inspection. This is obviously going to be a problem with our current setup. Has anyone solved for this issue or have any ideas?
Update
If you are using NPSP and your org is still on Legacy Recurring Donations, you are able to set the number of months to forecast.
NPSP Settings > Recurring Donations > Opportunity Forecast Months
This is however not available in Enhanced Recurring Donations where the system will only generate an opportunity for the next payment.
This is causing a big dilemma in our org:
- We need to be able to forecast. The good news is that we can configure this because we are still on LRDs. The bad news is that we are already buying up more storage before we even consider this change. Adding future opportunities to our 80k RDs will not help!
- If we upgrade to ERDs I expect that we lose the ability to forecast properly and we lose the ability to use the standard Goals and Forecast feature set.
