My Contacts have two fields that represent the same thing. Sometimes one gets filled in and not the other. I would like to merge these two fields into one. What is the best way to do this? #Sales Cloud

I tried this solution.
What I did use apex code and check both field if field1 is empty and field2 have value then using apex code i updated record and put field2 value in field1 and make only field1 visible on page.
Its not about merge but only 1 field will be shown with existing values.
