I keep getting the same error:

"The lead conversion failed because the value for the field Originating_Attorney__c is invalid. The value comes from the lead field that's mapped to the field Originating_Attorney__c. Ask your admin to check the field mappings."

It's a global picklist and it's been in use for several years. Last week a new admin at the client site added some values, and supposedly checked off the "add this value to all record types" box.

The conversion works without issue if using the original values, Once a new value is selected it doesn't convert.

With the error messages taking place and not allowing conversion with the new values I have checked the usual:

  • Record types to make sure they are all showing the values added- DONE
  • Restricted list checked off- Yes on any area that the field lives
  • removed it from the mapping, saved, added it back to the mapping, - didn't fix the issue
  • I can use the new field values in the Opportunity without issue and in the Lead without issue just can't convert and map.

Thoughts?

    Hey Lorena,

Seems like you've checked the main areas that could be causing the issue. My first thought would have been to check the record types to ensure the values exist there too.

How are you mapping these fields? Is it through Field Mapping on the Lead object?

If the field on the Lead and the Opportunity are both custom, this should be no problem.

    Here are a few ideas:

    - Check that the new values exist on the Lead field AND the Opportunity field.

    - Try to map via an automation instead.
