Good morning, Trailblazers. I have a revenue forecasting question for the group.

One of our company's LOB's is digital signage (e.g., digital menu boards in theatres, QSR's etc.). Customers purchase from us a media player/computer (up-front cost) then pay a monthly SAAS for use of our digital signage software. We're interested in tracking the computer and associated revenue (up-front and on-going) within Salesforce. Seeking input from this group on how to best go forward with this plan.

Our initial thought is to create the Account then a separate Asset for each computer/media player. Would we then create an Opportunity for each Asset for the on-going revenue and use Product Schedule to show the up-front and revenue by month?

Thanks for any direction you can provide.

    hi John

Yes, what you are proposing is possible.

You will need to think about your business process and user experience though as you will need to create a schedule for each opportunity line item and then potentially link each schedule line item to an Asset record that needs to have already been created. You could probably automate most of it with processes and flows:

The above is a quick proof of concept.

Another way might be to not use Asset at all and treat the opportunity as the "Asset"... really depends on your business needs
