We are running in Salesforce Classic and have restricted access to Activities/Tasks to users of a certain role.  Through profile settings, page layouts, and sharing rules, they cannot see any tasks, open or closed, of any record type attached to records they own or don't own.  However, when executing a global search, the can see emails sent from Salesforce under Activities.  We didn't have enhanced email turned on or Lightning for outlook.  We've since turned them both on and no change in results.  Now, after a global search, the users can see the emails in the activities section and in the Email section.  Any ideas on how we can restrict access to these emails?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, List Email is set to Private and no other Sharing Rules are set for this object. There isn’t a sharing setting for Email Message Object. We’ve tried removing activities from the Search Settings by setting the value to 0, but that errored out saying the value needs to be positive.

I’m thinking it’s tied to the object that it is related to. In our case the emails are being sent to a contact by pushing on the Send Email button in the Activity History Section of the Account Page. So the email is related to the contact and the account. The user has access to the contact and the account. But if this is the case, then why aren’t all activities viewable from Global Search, vs. just email activities.
