You could grant permission to contacts based on the associated account either through setting the sharing to "Controlled by parent" or through sharing rules, but I don't think you can give access to the parent account based on the opportunity since it's lower in the lookup hierarchy. Does that make sense? If you wanted to share the opportunity based on some account criteria, you could do that, but sharing the account based on the opportunity doesn't work the same way because of the direction of the relationships.
Everything is always possible though - you could use a trigger to manage custom sharing, however this is a pretty heavy solution. I would recommend trying to come up with another solution first though.
