After selecting "SFDX:Authorize an org" the browser window open for login in salesforce org and after that chrome is loading showing waiting for local host in browser:-
Have tried restarting VS Code but there is no success.

It appears you're not alone. There are several folk also reporting this in the offical github repo (https://github.com/forcedotcom/cli/issues/881#.issuecomment-788101774).
It looks to be resolvable by manually either uninstalling or installing the standalone auth plugin, I think.
