    There are a bunch of reasons this might happen, but two common ones are: The report is referencing and filtering a ton of data, so it takes a long time to run. Since you are talking about future tasks, some companies have millions of them and it takes the report engine a long time to find them and put them on the page. Another reason could be connectivity issues when you are sending the report to Salesforce. Some people see some funky things when their network repeatedly gains and loses connection with Salesforce.
