I'm preparing to put together a mail merge and I will be entering new contacts. Is there a way to categorize each contact so that In the future I can "pull out" this list and or just part of the list and send out new letters?
Sure. I would suggest creating a custom field called "category" for example and then updating that to use as your filter criteria when creating list views or mail merge lists etc etc.
