how can I add shortcuts

On my users home screen there is a pane on the right side that offers the option for shortcuts. How do I edit and add to this list? I am looking to create a link to unresolved emails. Any ideas?

Go to Setup | Customize | Home | Home Page Components

or you can go to Custom Links and create the desired link then add it to the desired Home Page Layout.
