Key Highlights
- Create rich text and custom HTML (new) email templates in Lightning Experience
- Manage email templates easily in Lightning Experience
- Control which users can create templates
- Easy to use merge fields and syntax based on industry standard Handlebars language
- More supported merge fields (signature, ids, etc.)
Key Limitations (planned for GA)
- Existing Lightning email templates will NOT be accessible for pilot users
- Attachments cannot be added to templates (can be added as links OR prior to sending)
- Enhanced Templates cannot be used in Communities
- Enhanced Templates cannot be used in Lightning for Gmail/Outlook

I all, My name is Kyle Coleman and I am a Sr. Manager on our email Product teams. We have had a change in execution plans and we are cancelling our Spring '18 Enhanced Templates Pilot. We are still moving forward with development and pushing toward a GA date as soon as possible. Please stay tuned to normal release communication channels for updates.
