I feel like I'm banging my head against a walk with filtered list views and despite reading all the documentation I can find, I'm still not clear on what views users can filter and which they can't.  The documentation indicates that there are some views they can't filter, but not which ones or what the criteria is.  Can anyone help?

I'm hoping that end users can filter any view that I create and aren't limited to just the views they create themselves.  Most of them aren't going to create views, and it seems silly for every person on a team to create the same view when I can just create it once for them.   I want them to be able to filter those views so that we can avoid creating the same view over and over again with slightly different parameters.

Also, once a view is filtered, does that filter "stick" or does it revert to the original view when they leave and then come back?  If I filter a view and someone else opens it, do they have my filters applied or can they create their own?  We had some weird behaviour with filters carrying over from one user to another in our pilot group meeting earlier this week.

This is all great feedback, thank you. You're correct that 'edit' from the gear icon and clicking the filter button is the same thing. Just two different ways of getting to your filters.
