Okay, folks, here's another one:
I'm looking to create an email notification when Prospect_Status__c changes from one of two particular values to any other value (or to blank). When those either of those two particular values are present, a checkbox is automatically checked, and this is the basis for the email notification: when it goes from checked to unchecked (i.e., from either of the two particular values to a different or no value). However, when a record is created, it may or may not have a value in this field. The evaluation criteria in a workflow rule are 1) when record is created, 2) created, and every time it's edited, and 3) created, and any time it's edited to subsequently meet criteria - I want to eliminate the created part to avoid getting a notification every time a record without a value in this field is created. Suggetions?
Thank you!

I think I understand what you're saying. I should initially select "when created or edited," yes? The checkbox is checked or subsequently unchecked by a formula, so it sounds like the picklist field that triggers the checkbox is where the process builder trigger needs to point, essentially bypassing the checkbox? I look forward to trying this out after some sleep... Thanks, John.
