Learn How Tree Organizations Are Making a Difference

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Summarize how global partners collaborate through collective action to conserve and restore forest landscapes.
  • Describe the specialized work of key nonprofit organizations dedicated to global ecosystem health.

Scaling Forest Restoration Through Global Collaboration

No single company, government, or organization can solve planetary challenges alone. Realizing lasting environmental progress requires multi-stakeholder collaboration that mobilizes resources, aligns technology, and empowers local communities. Salesforce partners with other leading conservation organizations to support healthy, resilient forests across diverse landscapes, including:

Forest Future Alliance

A leading vehicle for this collaborative approach is Forest Future Alliance (previously 1t.org). Co-founded by the World Economic Forum and Salesforce, the Forest Future Alliance connects the global restoration community, mobilizes political and corporate resources, and provides a unifying platform to conserve, restore, and steward forest landscapes worldwide. Mass-scale forest stewardship delivers vital biodiversity preservation, sustainable economic livelihoods, and community resilience alongside broader emission reduction strategies.

Global Forest Generation

Global Forest Generation is on a mission to achieve large-scale regeneration of threatened forest ecosystems. Their flagship initiative, Acción Andina, is a powerful example of how this vision comes to life—restoring the vital forests of the Andes and directly impacting the lives of thousands of people and ecosystems across South America.

Plant-for-the-Planet

Founded by youth leaders, Plant-for-the-Planet empowers young ambassadors globally to advocate for forest restoration. The organization developed a free, open-source digital platform that allows tree-planting projects of all sizes to collect donations, maintain transparency, and fund local restoration jobs in areas facing extreme poverty.

American Forests

American Forests is the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the United States. Founded in 1875, it advances forest health from wilderness areas to urban centers through place-based restoration partnerships, forestry innovation, and federal policy advocacy that builds coalitions for long-term canopy equity.

One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering a sustainable and resilient future through innovative nature-based solutions rooted in the science of trees. Their projects focus on restoring priority landscapes around the world—places where forests can make the biggest difference for nature and communities.

Collective Action Is the Only Way Forward

Delivering timely, impactful environmental action requires deep coordination across businesses, civil society, and grassroots leaders. By aligning around shared restoration frameworks, global coalitions accelerate nature-positive outcomes across global ecosystems. In the next unit, you’ll learn how Salesforce applies its core values, philanthropic model, and technology stack to support these global restoration commitments.
