Using shape layer to ingest coordinates.

Once the shape layer is plotted on Salesforce maps, I would need to create records using a custom button in Salesforce maps. The goal is to create records with Geolocation, I have a flow but there are two issues:

1. Error 'Create Postal Codes for Region No markers found that support this action' in Salesforce Maps.

2. Longitude and Latitude are not being populated. I created a geolocation field.

I found out that Click2Create works for a single POI, but multiple records are not supported. This is the reason I am creating a flow automation. Also wondering if this is possible?

Hi trailblazers,    does anybody here have expeirence with Salesforce Maps Advanced?.  We are analyzing the following scenarios:    1. Multi-day route planning

Our sales reps have two travel scenarios:

  • Multi-day trips: They visit customers over several days and stay overnight in hotels.
  • Day trips: They visit local customers and return home the same day.

Does Salesforce Maps Advanced support both scenarios natively?

Specifically:

  •  Can the start/end location change dynamically from one day to the next (e.g., hotel instead of home)?
  •  Is there a native concept of overnight locations, or does this require custom logic (Flow, custom object, etc.)?

2. Geocoding poor-quality ERP addresses

Customer addresses are synchronized nightly from an external system, but address quality is inconsistent.

  •  What is the recommended geocoding threshold for this scenario?
  •  Can Salesforce Maps keep a partial geocode (city/postal code level) if street-level geocoding fails?
  •  If a rep manually corrects an Account location in the mobile app, what is the recommended way to prevent nightly geocoding or ERP sync from overwriting those coordinates?

Any implementation experience, best practices, or documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have configured SF Maps and the one thing I am still having a hard time finding information on is how can I make sure that new Accounts/Contacts that have an address are being assigned Latitude and Longitude values?     I have already scheduled batches to run once a week for both objects, however I would like newly created to be assigned right away instead of waiting for the weekly batch run.     Note: I have already created a before save triggered flow to clear the Lat/Long values anytime the address is updated so that then the Lat/Long looks like they are empty.    Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

    @Ashwini Garwandha,

One additional follow up I have is related to the Marker Pop-Up. I have a Marker Layer with Base Object Contact (Mailing) that filters by the Account Name. On the Maker Pop-Ups section, I have added fields to the Details Tab that are showing up appropriately. But when I click on a marker that has more than 1 contact located at that Account I can see in the top right corner '1 of 3' etc. As I flip through them, one of them seems to be for the Shape Layer that I also have on the map. Is there a way to remove that as the end user really doesn't need to see it?

It also seems to display as either the first or last based on if the Shape Layer is added before or after the Marker Layer. If it is default and there is no way to remove it, I will ask users to add their shape layer first and then the Marker Layer. However, when I do this the Marker Layer always shows '0 visible'. I researched and this seems to be a known issue.

An error message is displayed when a KML derived shape layer is plotted with 'Enhanced User Experience'  turned on. The shape layer is displayed if Enhanced User Experience is turned off. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Error Message: Can't plot the KML file. Structure the file so that it meets Salesforce Maps standards.

Hi!     I am new to SF Maps and have installed it into a sandbox to configure. I have created the button sets and assigned them to permission groups already. When I go to the Account Object and try to add the Maps button to the page layout I am unable to see any of the SF Maps buttons. The org currently has Geopointe installed as SF Maps will be replacing it.     Any help or guidance is appreciated!

    Hi @Joan Bellesbach

I believe SF Maps buttons don't appear automatically in the page layout editor, they need to be manually created first.

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Go to Setup → Installed Packages and click Configure next to Salesforce Maps.
    2. Select Base Objects → Edit Existing and choose the Account object.
    3. Configure the Map It button settings and copy the generated Button URL.
    4. Go to Object Manager → Account → Buttons, Links, and Actions → New Button or Link, paste the URL, and click Save.
    5. Finally, open the Account Page Layout, and drag the newly created button into the Mobile & Lightning Actions section and click Save.

Hi Team,

While using map.api.gecode(options) we are getting Exception :: sObject type 'SettingsGroupAssignment__c' is not supported. If you are attempting to use a custom object, be sure to append the '__c' after the entity name. Please reference your WSDL or the describe call for the appropriate names.

We have upgraded to 260.16 on 28 April 2026

For admin user , it is fine . Only issue with non admin user

Could you please help us fix this?

We use Salesforce Maps within the Salesforce Mobile App, and since the Spring ’26 release, our users are experiencing some changes that are less than ideal for our workflows.

For example, one user no longer sees the “Take Me There” action when selecting a marker in their route. Additionally, clicking the account name now opens the full account record, and users must navigate to the Activities tab to view tasks and events. Previously, this information and these actions were accessible directly from the marker pop-up.

I’ve reviewed the release notes but haven’t been able to find any documentation outlining changes to marker pop-up behavior.

Has anyone come across detailed documentation covering updates to Maps functionality from Winter ’25 through Spring ’26? Specifically, I’m looking for:

  •  A summary of changes to marker interactions/pop-ups
  •  Whether these changes are tied to the Enhanced Mobile User Experience
  •  Any options or workarounds to restore or replicate the previous functionality

Appreciate any insights or direction—thanks in advance!

    hi @Samantha Bird

    - I have found the same, the functionality is very different when using the Maps Mobile funtion inside the SF app rather than the stand alone mobile app. Once you've opened a route, the header also takes up half the screen and it looks like using the product on a computer rather than mobile device.

I'm hoping that they'll make some changes to this to keep the app functionality of using this on the road, after all that's the whole point of this.

Would be grateful if anybody knows how to 'check in' on this one as I've found that option is also missing and I have a few users who use this daily.

I am looking to create Sales Territories using Salesforce Maps. Our territories are not typically defined by postal codes or municipalities. They are defined mostly by roads and landmarks. (ie: North of Hwy xx and East of Range Road xxx). I can use a polygon to draw on map and then save as shape layer. This is very time consuming and not as flexible for changes, but will this cause potential issues for other features and Salesforce products such as Sales Territories, Territory Planning, Forecasting, Assignments, etc.    Thank you.

    Hello Chris,

Yeah you can totally use polygons in Salesforce Maps for this kind of territory setup — a lot of teams with real-world boundaries do exactly that. It’ll work fine from a visualization and assignment perspective inside Maps, so reps can see territories and you can even use them for basic record assignment.

But here’s the catch: those polygon-based territories don’t natively sync with core territory features like Enterprise Territory Management, forecasting, or standard assignment rules. Those systems typically rely on structured data, not map shapes. So while Maps understands your polygons, the rest of Salesforce doesn’t automatically respect them unless you build some custom logic.

Also, you’re right about maintenance — drawing and updating polygons can get painful over time, especially if boundaries change often. Hope this helps!

One of our sandboxes has the 260.13 patch for the Salesforce Maps package and today we started to get an error when using the maps.API.Geocode method through Apex. The method works in other environment with a different package version.

System.QueryException: sObject type 'SettingsGroupAssignment__c' is not supported. If you are attempting to use a custom object, be sure to append the '__c' after the entity name. Please reference your WSDL or the describe call for the appropriate names.

    @Gonzalo Di Gesu

Ensure the Salesforce Maps package is fully updated and all components are installed

Run a metadata refresh (or recompile Apex)

Check if the object exists via Schema Builder or Describe calls

If missing, reinstall or upgrade the package

Contact Salesforce Maps support if the issue persists (likely a patch bug)

    Thanks

We recently received the upgrade to our Salesforce Maps managed package on Mar 16th. Its on

260.10 now. Since the upgrade, Field Service/Maps users have been reporting tremendous performance lags. They are trying to assign stops for the upcoming days and it freezes on them, they lose all of their work when they refresh. Sometimes they are having to refresh 3-4 times and start assigning stops again.

We have tried clearing browser cache and restarting browser, incognito and different browser with the same result.

Weirdly, admins or even Salesforce support is unable to reproduce the performance lag when logged in as the user.

Has anybody experienced this?

We have isolated the issue to be happening in Citrix Environment. We are currently evaluating if updating Browser version improves the performance
