I have a client who is trying to use Salesforce add in on outlook, it works for Admin users, but standard users receive a 'You do not have permission' error when trying to log events.

The events are not private or recurring. The standard user has permissions to edit the WhatID and WhoID fields and they are available on the page layouts.

Salesforce Support do not seem to have any ideas either.

the Org is a non profit org if that helps.

    Hi @Cat Shelton

This looks like an Event permission/configuration issue rather than an Outlook issue. Salesforce specifically identifies insufficient access to the Event WhoId (Name) and WhatId (Related To) fields as a cause of the “You don’t have permission to log events” error for non-admin users.

Since you’ve already verified WhoId/WhatId and the page layout, I’d also check:

    • Event object → Create/Edit permission for the affected users.
    •  FLS for WhoId and WhatId.
    •  Both fields are editable on the Event page layout assigned to the standard users.
    •  Test with the same profile/permission set as the affected user.

If all of these are correct, I’d compare the affected user's permissions with an Admin user who can successfully log the event. Salesforce’s current KB specifically recommends checking the Event permissions and WhoId/WhatId configuration.

    Hope This Helps!!
