I am using PREP to clean my data.

I have a primary file of many thousands of [work_id].

I want to limit them to just about 20.

I have the 20 [work_id] in an Excel sheet, one per cell.

Options I KNOW I have but I'm not necessarily happy with:

  • Create a filter; manually look each one up, click it, to put it in the KEEP bin. If my list of keeper IDs grows large, this could prove tiersome.
  • Write a Boolean calculation such as [work_id] = 12345 OR [work_id] = 13567 OR... and keep only TRUE values. See above.
  • Merge the Primary and Excel file, keeping only [work_id] in common. Fairly fast, but requires adding that new data source.

What I'm looking for:

  • Does PREP support custom filters like Tableau desktop, where I can just pull up the field and enter a custom list to keep? I tried this when I added a filter however my list of IDs was returned as a concatenated string-- so no values matched.

Please let me know if I'm overlooking something: if my options are limited to the top 3 or there is a better way of achieving this. If this is not possible in PREP, I think it would be a nice add. Such a filter might look like this:

Thanks, @Don Wise  -- I had really hoped I had just overlooked a feature.

I'll create an Idea for this, as well.
