Is it possible to create one single calendar view filter that can control two different fields/parameters

I'm looking to create a calendar which displays all of the days of the month in a calendar view. A user would be able to click on the calendar once to select a 'Start Date'. If the user clicks again on another date that is after that first date, that second date is added as the "End Date'. If the second click is a date that precedes the first date, then that second click will become the new "Start Date".

Many websites have a calendar like this to easily allow the user to select two date ranges. I am curious how can I create something similar.
