Hi All,

I have a nginx reverse proxy setup and want to implement a rule to redirect any requests to ^signin API to my custom web portal.

I will be using trusted tickets to redirect my users from my portal to tableau view without login page.

Similarly, on session timeout or logout, i want to redirect them to my custom portal without login page.

To achieve this, i want to have the reverse proxy as mentioned earlier.

The two questions are:

  1. Will implementing the rule for ^signin solve my problem?
  2. Will the above break any other functionality? For example, publishing data from tableau desktop to tableau server? As I would need to authenticate into tableau server from desktop in order to achieve this right?

Thanks in advance. Really looking forward to hear some answers on this.

    Hi @Srinivas N ,

I don't think you can redirect users to a custom webportal, because this will break the Tableau authentication flow. Only Single-Sign-On providers can 'intercept' the login, but this is handled by Tableau.

Using a custom portal with embedded visualisations should give the right user-experience - why do you want to redirect the signin process?

    Kind regards,
