I need to connect Tableau with the files on Sharepoint. I am using the "OneDrive" option in Tableau to access the Sharepoint file.

Since I am using Mac, I am referring to the following link to connect to Sharepoint files but my issue is that the files which has been shared with me by others are not appearing in "My Files" folder. I don't see the option "Add shortcut to my Drive" even though I am able to edit the files.

Please advise how can I connect the Sharepoint files to Tableau in Mac.

I have been doing this successfully for a while now. I use Tableau Prep 2020.1 to extract data from files in SharePoint. it allows us to collect data from people across the whole organisation, just by running tableau prep files.

    1. Open the Excel file in the Desktop app.
    2. Click on FILE | INFO | CopyPath
    3. Go to Tableau Prep
    4. Add a new connection of type Excel.
    5. Paste the path into the 'FileName' space in the dialog box.
    6. Delete the stuff in the path after the .xlsx i.e. usually this is '?web=1' that gets deleted.
    7. Click OK/open
    8. Select the Excel tab and drag it into the prep working are.

NOTE - sometimes you can't connect. - just because windows insists you use Internet Explorer or EDGE-(with this Edge workaround added - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/sharepoint-view-in-edge. It appears to provide the solution via Policy changes to turn on the ‘view in file explorer’ facility.

It says...   “Enable the ConfigureViewInFileExplorer policy for Microsoft Edge that allows URLs with the viewinfileexplorer: scheme to open WebDAV URLs in Windows File Explorer.)

    AND FINALLY...

And you might need to prep the whole connection regime with this. - which describes configuring Trusted Sites as well as doing the mapping.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/map-a-network-drive-to-a-sharepoint-library-751148de-f579-42f9-bc8c-fcd80ccf0f53 - .

Hope it helps - it took me a while, but it definitely works, and the Edge trick SHOULD (unproven) mean it can continue after IE gets retired.
