Title: Dynamic Parameter Options Based on Logged-in User

Hi Tableau Community,

I have a Tableau dashboard with data for 3 teams in a single workbook. All visuals are controlled by a Team parameter, and RLS is applied along with Region/Territory filters.

Currently, when a user logs in, the RLS correctly restricts their data. However, the Team parameter still shows all 3 teams, regardless of which teams the user actually has access to.

The requirement is:

  • Some reps belong to only one team → the parameter should be relevant to that user and ideally default to that team.
  • Some reps belong to two teams → the parameter should show/allow only those two relevant teams.
  • Global users → should have access to and be able to select all 3 teams.

So, essentially, I want the Team parameter/options and ideally its default selection to be dynamic based on the logged-in user's team access

, rather than showing all 3 options to every user.

I understand that Tableau parameters are not dynamically filtered based on USERNAME() or user filter by default. Is there any workaround or recommended approach to make the team selection dynamic and relevant to the logged-in user's team access?

Thanks!
