I've recently join my org (~1month), and found out pretty quickly the Salesforce NPSP I was told we utilize was built as a ticketing system, and the entire donation/fundraising/donor tracking system wasn't built out at all. As of right now, I can't enter in gifts, track donor activity, create reports, update communications.......anything. I've tried working with my internal database admin - who is a former Salesforce admin - but I'm not getting anywhere and don't know how to direct him toward what I need. The org hasn't been philanthropy focused, so there's a lot of confusion back and forth about what I'm asking for, and what is actually possible within Salesforce - especially since I understand a lot of things have to be custom built.
Can anyone provide some guidance and suggestions for what basic modules or objects to ask for? While I'd love all the bells and whistles, at this point I'd be happy to actually search for a donor, see their donation history, have an ability to track activity, and provide reports to my CEO about our fundraising program.
