I have a user who has the following Permission Sets and she is trying to delete a task in a Template she manages and is getting an insufficient privilege's error. What permissions are needed to delete a task within a template?
TaskRay - Admin Access
TaskRay - Project Manager Access
TaskRay - Standard Access
TaskRay - Template Manager Access
Thanks!
Hi Emily.
That's pretty common ask. You're not alone in looking for the answer to this. In this case the insufficient privileges error isn't caused by a Permission Set not being assigned, but is likely the result of Role Hierarchy in your Org. Expected behavior for Records where Role Hierarchy is concerned is that a User would not be able to Edit or Delete a Record that is Owned by a User who is equal or higher than they are in the Role Hierarchy chart. So one way to address this would be to update Role Hierarchy for Users who will normally be creating, editing, and deleting Tasks from Templates. You could also implement some Custom Sharing Rules to open up access. I recorded a video to demonstrate the effect here: https://share.taskray.com/5zuvy6N9
There's also a low impact work around for Users running into the issue. From the Assign Step the User can reassign themselves to be the owner of a Task they are trying to delete. After that they can navigate back to the Build step and would be able to Delete it. I hope that helps!
