How to include Current Year in the email templates in salesforce? I just want the Year not the date/time.

Question

Should I create a create formula field on the object and and then use that field in the merge fields?

What is the formula to show current year?

For example: my template says thank you for applying for the [year] 2022.

Any help is appreciated!

Create a Text type formula field - TEXT(YEAR(TODAY())), and add it as a merge field in your email template.

For email templates being sent from Salesforce, I put the custom field on the User object, so that the field would be available as a Sender merge field for all objects.       Then your Salesforce "Email Templates" would use the merge field  {{{Sender.Current_Year__c}}}    And for the custom field I used the same formula as provided by  @Priya Ranjan https://trailblazers.salesforce.com/profileView?u=0054S0000016ppZQAQ  -  TEXT(YEAR(TODAY()))     If using "Email Content" to send emails through Account Engagement, you have to use the system merge field  {{Current_Year}}   (with only 2 curly brackets).
