We have 2 record types for contacts, client and member contacts. I am trying to determine if a direct account contact relationship is created every time a client or member contact is created?

Hi Monica,
When you create or edit a Contact, whatever you put in the "Account Name" field will become the 'parent' to the Contact. You can't create a Contact without an Account Name (required field), so there would be a relationship created between every Contact and their respective Account.
