I would like to know what configuration needs to be used in dashboards so that user can see records that they have created.
The dashboard or underlying reports should not have manual filters on username or userid.

You can set the Dashbaord to be viewed “As the dashboard viewer” so that the user who views the dashboard will only see their own records or that of the users below them in the hierarchy.
