I am new to this group and new to working in Data Manager. I have completed various trailheads but am still confused about the difference between creating a dataset or creating a recipe. When you would create one versus the other.
Am I correct in thinking that a Dataset is like a report type? If so, what does a Recipe represent that a dataset cannot? Thanks!
A recipe is one of the means for creating a dataset. It is replacing the previous method of dataflows. Most datasets will be created from recipes as they allow you to bring in data from related objects along with performing transform related tasks on the data. You can also use a recipe to transform an existing datasets (aggregates for example). Data does not reside in a recipe, you would need to output it to a dataset, salesforce core objects or a CSV after running the recipe.
