As per below article when enhanced domain is enable we are still able to login to any org via test.salesforce.com.
But we have seen issue recently when we refreshed few sandboxes from production and enhanced domain is enabled.
we tried to login to application via test.salesforce.com (with enhanced domain enabled) but it was giving error " Please check your username and password. If you still can't log in, contact your Salesforce administrator.
Question: Is it something expected if enhanced domain is enabled and does it take time to update new usernames in salesforce servers if enhanced domain enabled?
Note: But when we try to change the URL to custom domain with enhanced domain enabled its working fine.
Currently we had disabled enhanced domain in recently refreshed sandboxes and after waiting 24-30 hrs. we are able to login via test.salesforce.com.
Question: Do we have any grace period to reflect all usernames in salesforce server to login via test.salesforce.com if we deploy new domain from old to new or new to old?
Could you please help us here to understand more about this change?
Thanks for asking about that. It sounds like replication may have unexpectedly been behind for a while, if the sandbox's old instance differs from the refreshed sandbox's new instance. Using the My Domain hostname -- the one that ends with .my.salesforce.com (or, for Enhanced Domains in a sandbox, .sandbox.my.salesforce.com) -- routes directly to the sandbox's new instance, but test.salesforce.com gets served by any geographically nearby instance.
Alternatively, it's possible that the sandbox's old instance thought that the old org was still active, at least in the replicated data, causing login requests to get sent to the sandbox's old instance, which then denied the login from the sandbox's old org being inactive.
These are just possibilities. I hadn't looked into these, and I'm presently not aware of these issues occurring at present. I recommend filing a case with Salesforce Support to ask about this, allowing engineers to research this to see what happened.
Enhanced Domains aren't expected to impact the ability to use test.salesforce.com. Instead, the checkboxes near the bottom of the My Domain setup page are what control whether test.salesforce.com can be used in a sandbox, regardless of the use of Enhanced Domains.
